Indigenous people livelihood improvement through Honey Bee Farming

Overview

The project was funded by International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) in 2009- 2010 and its objective was to enhance the income of the indigenous communities of the Kalash valley through honey bee farming and using the earned income for education, health care and food for the children.

Since July 2007, Hashoo Foundation has trained and provided production kits to women beekeepers in Gilgit – Baltistan and Chitral through its “Women Empowerment through Honey Bee Farming” – Plan Bee Project – Winner of World Challenge 08 due to its unique and innovative approach.
