Formation of Farmer’s Enterprise Groups – Mansehra


The Agribusiness was initiated to increase competitiveness of horticulture and livestock value chains to support broad-based economic growth, creation of employment opportunities, and poverty alleviation. ‘Formation of Farmer’s Enterprise Groups’ was sub-let by the Agri support Fund (ASF) USAID in November, 2012 for a period of 2 years and taken over by Hashoo Foundation in Mansehra District.


  • 1,200 Horticulture and Livestock farmers were supported during the project period, forming 80 Farmers Enterprise Groups and training them in enterprise and value chain development
  • 40 FEGs each of seed potato and off-season vegetable value chain (peas, tomato, squashes and chilies) sold their product in the local market and each FEG member’s income increased by 32% (TAP-Annual report)
  • Hashoo Foundation facilitated distribution of tool kits among FEGs, which helped them with sowing and harvesting
  • After the training, it was ascertained that FEGs were able to diagnose different diseases in crops and obtained sufficient knowledge on quality of seeds
