Restoration of Flood Affected Beekeepers

Overview

The project was funded by Chapelwood Foundation (USA) in 2012and its objective was to enhance the income of the target families through honey bee farming and using the earned income for education, health care and food for the children.

Achievements

  • 52 women trained honey bee farming
  • value chain development training imparted
  • Distributed 52 beehives to flood affected beekeepers
  • Assist in marketing of honey
  • Income of the beekeepers increased by 20%
  • Enrollment of the children in school increased
  • Involvement of women in decision making increased
  • Decreased dependency
  • Flood affected beekeepers restored
