The skills development component of HF’s second thematic focus centers on initiatives that can be divided into:
Every project that comes under ‘technical and vocational training’ always has the other two as its subcomponents. HF strongly believes in the value and professional development of a trainee so that s/he has the best possible opportunity to enter into gainful employment.
Technical and Vocational Training
Under this, the Foundation focuses on the following three main considerations:
Life Skills Training
Hashoo Foundation initiated the Life Skills training program in 2006 to enable young Pakistani men and women to make the most of the opportunity to polish up on their socio-professional competencies. Life skills refer to a large group of psycho-social and interpersonal skills which can help people make informed decisions, communicate effectively, enhance their self-confidence and develop self-management skills that may help them lead a healthy and productive life. These trainings are offered by the Foundation through its Human Development Resource Centers located in Rawalpindi, Chitral and Gilgit.
Career Planning & Job Placement Service
Since its inception, HF has been providing guidance and support for youth to develop career plans and hunt for jobs through building their employable skills. To further strengthen this component the Foundation restructured its Career Planning and Job Placement Services in 2010. HF Career Guidance & Job Placement Program now provides an opportunity for youth to develop their career and secure employment in Pakistan and abroad. The placement unit trains and empowers them to develop career goals, identify employment opportunities, complete online and offline employment applications, prepare and update resume according to the JDs, prepare for interviews, utilize appropriate job search methods and, most importantly, secure and maintain employment. Once youth take part in employable skill workshops they become mentally prepared for internships, secure jobs or start small enterprises. HF Placement Program also tracks the youth for minimum six months after training and maintains data in HF MIS. Around 800 young individuals benefit from this program annually. As a result of this one can find HF graduates serving in different hotels, restaurants, hospitals, schools and NGOs in Pakistan and world over.
Career Planning & Job Placement Service enhances Employability Skills of the Trainees by imparting necessary knowledge and linking them with professional networks and employers.
