HF’s health program’s main focus is on primary health care (with special emphasis in maternal and child health care), emergency and rehabilitation services. We began our activities during the disastrous earthquake in 2005, providing relief to the earthquake affected victims through establishment of a basic health unit in Talhatta, Balakot and the Spinal Cord Injury Project for Pakistan Earthquake Rehabilitation (SCIPPER). The Talhatta project funded by Real Medicine Foundation, Direct relief International, Google INC(Tide Foundation), closed (in 2011) by providing services to 107,214 beneficiaries whereas, Hashoo Medical Centre in Gawadar, Baluchistan and Hassan Ali Hashwani Dispensary in Karachi, continue serving the community in Sindh and Baluchistan. HF has also established with the financial assistance of Al Mahmood Foundation, a Mobile Health Unit (MHU) in Karachi for the IDPs of 2011 Sindh from flood affected areas. Through its SCIPPER program, Hashoo Foundation continues its support to 33 spinal cord injury patients (earthquake affected community) by providing them with monthly assistance and rehabilitation services. So far 11 disabled friendly homes have been constructed for Spinal Cord Injury Patients.
